CALL FOR PAPERS: TCD STAFF/POSTGRADUATE SEMINARS MICHAELMAS 2015

Dear all,

Firstly, we would like to introduce ourselves—Kate Smyth, Nora Moroney and Gavin Doyle—as the incoming conveners of the Staff-Postgraduate Seminar Series for the 2015/2016 academic year. For those of you lucky enough to have presented at or attended last year’s Staff-Postgraduate Seminars, we are certain you’ll join us in both thanking and congratulating the outgoing conveners, Anne Thompson, Stephen O’Neill, and James Little, on an incredibly vibrant series and a truly brilliant year. It is an honour to take over and we look forward to welcoming equally rich and rigorous papers this coming year. Today, we would like to extend this call to all new and continuing early-stage researchers, particularly those who have not yet had a chance to take the plunge and present their own research to an academic audience.

The seminar series offers Masters and PhD students a chance to present their work to staff and fellow researchers in a friendly and professional environment. Members of the School’s faculty too have traditionally contributed papers highlighting their current research projects, and have benefited from feedback from seminar attendees. The series also welcomes distinguished guest lecturers from the academic community outside Trinity College.

This year, we strive to uphold a supportive collegiate atmosphere and to facilitate innovative research presentations from the vibrant postgraduate cohort across our School.

The seminars, currently the only organised event for postgraduates at the School of English, offer a fantastic opportunity to meet and share ideas with your fellow researchers.

If you are interested in presenting a paper, please send an abstract of no more than 300 words tostaffpostgraduate15@gmail.com by 31 July 2015. You can find more information on our Facebook page or on Twitter: @TCDSeminars15.

We look forward to seeing you in October.

Kate Smyth, Nora Moroney and Gavin Doyle
